A Painting To Be Stepped On
Moving Image, Performance | 2min 20sec
Oct 2023
For this collaborative work with my partner Lynea Fung, we were inspired by the conceptual art of Yoko Ono, particularly her exploration of the intersection between performance and visual art. The piece is a dynamic, active painting created through movement, where we danced to print on the floor, using our bodies as both instruments and brushes. The painting emerges from our synchronized steps, gestural expressions, and spontaneous energy, capturing the essence of performance art as an evolving, living artwork. This process, a fusion of dance and painting, becomes an interactive experience where the boundaries between medium, artist, and viewer dissolve, inviting the audience to witness the creation of the artwork in real-time. The final result is not just a painting but a reflection of our shared creative rhythm and the physicality of collaboration.
